How Often Do You Use Gaming Walkthroughs & Guides?

Matt, Sacco, and Marissa take on the discussion of walkthroughs and video games, including a debate on semantics – because, why not? We start the conversation by discussing how often we turn to video game guides and walkthroughs. Whether for collectibles or to help get through games taken out from the library, all three heathens have specifics about when they rely on the help of Google to complete a part of a game. We take a brief interlude to discuss the differences (or rather, non-existent differences) between a video game walkthrough and a video game guide. Once we get back on track, we discuss the first time Marissa ever used a walkthrough guide while playing a Legend of Zelda game. Sacco chimes in with his most frustrating experience while playing Portal 2. We close it out with our currently played games. Expect us to discuss the following games at some point in this podcast: - Crash Bandicoot - Portal - Portal 2 - Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Dragon Age: Inquisition - Dragon Age 2 - The Witcher - NHL - The Last of Us - No Man's Sky - Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War - Crash Bandicoot: It's About Time Like our content? We start the conversation by discussing how often we turn to video game guides and walkthroughs. Whether for collectibles or to help get through games taken out from the library, all three heathens have specifics about when they rely on the help of Google to complete a part of a game.

We take a brief interlude to discuss the differences (or rather, non-existent differences) between a video game walkthrough and a video game guide. Once we get back on track, we discuss the first time Marissa ever used a walkthrough guide while playing a Legend of Zelda game. Sacco chimes in with his most frustrating experience while playing Portal 2.

In particular with choice-based games, Marissa discusses how she avoids walkthroughs on her first playthrough – but will sometimes lean on them during RPGs to ensure that she doesn't accidentally ruin a story. Matt explains why he played through the entirety of Portal with a walkthrough.

Marissa brings up how differently some people play video games, turning to a recent example online where someone pointed out how useful it would be to be able to skip fight scenes like you can skip cutscenes. From there, Matt gets excited about the prospect of not playing out the fight scenes in an RPG, but still getting to experience the plot.

Expect us to discuss the following games at some point in this podcast:
- Crash Bandicoot
- Portal
- Portal 2
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Dragon Age: Inquisition
- Dragon Age 2
- The Witcher
- NHL
- The Last of Us
